X5 Retail Group, Russia’s largest retailer by sales, is reportedly made a move to buy discount retailer Kopeika.

According to reports from Russia, X5 has filed a request with the country’s anti-monopoly watchdog to buy Kopeika.

X5 chief executive Lev Khasis told Reuters that the company wanted clarification from the watchdog before starting talks to Kopeika.

Last month, it emerged that Kopeika was in talks with two potential buyers, while also studying the possibility of an IPO.
