Earlier this month, Carrefour was reported to be in negotiations with a potential buyer for ten of its 32 Korean outlets, sparking speculation that the company was planning to withdraw altogether from this market. When approached by just-food, Carrefour was unwilling to corroborate this and declined to comment on which companies might be considered potential bidders.
According to various media reports, Carrefour Korea is in discussions with Wal-Mart Korea, Samsung Tesco and Lotte Mart. However, none of the companies involved are willing to validate the rumours of negotiations or even confirm interest in the sale.
