Carrefour is reportedly on a shortlist of four bidders to buy Spanish retailer Caprabo.
The French giant is among those selected from a group of 15 bidders, according to reports in Spain.
Caprabo’s advisers chose Carrefour, fellow French retailer Auchan, Spanish supermarket chain Grupo Eroski and private equity firm Permira to enter the next stage of the process, a Down Jones report said late last week.
Carrefour is already present in Spain, where it owns the chain of Dia stores. The company could not be reached for comment as just-food went to press.
Officials at Auchan, Permira and Grupo Eroski were also unavailable.
