Members of the Spanish ice-cream association ANHCEA, including producers and sellers of the sweet treat, have revealed that they now expect turnover during 2002 to reach €180m (US$168m), 5% less than initially forecast.

ANHCEA explained that lower turnover would be due to poor weather, with rain and lower temperatures buffeting sales during the Holy Week at the end of March and in April and May.

Association president Jose Luis Gisbert explained that spring sales account for 25% of the annual turnover.
