Spanish supermarket chain Mercadona is to open a supermarket in Segovia in the Castille-Leon region of western Spain on 15 December.
The company, which opens around 100 stores each year in Spain, employs around 28,000 staff. Mercadona invested €2.4m (US$2.38m) in a supermarket in Villanueva, Estremadura in southwestern Spain that it opened yesterday [Thursday].
The supermarket chain is targeting turnover of €5.4bn for 2002, up 20% year-on-year, reported the Spanish News Digest.
