Spanish baker Panrico has announced what will be its second facility closure in Spain this year.

A spokesperson for the company confirmed the planned closure of the plant in Galicia’s Santiago region to just-food yesterday (19 July), although declined to give any further details on the plans.

The bakery facility is set to close on 31 August, putting around 100 jobs at risk. The spokesperson would not disclose any further details of the plans or reason for the closure.

It appears, however, to form part of what the group has previously described as a strategic plan to “optimise production units and remain competitive in the current economic crisis”.

Only two months ago the company announced plans to close its production facility in Seville, resulting in 197 job losses.
