Spain exports 99.6% of the organic food that it produces, according to the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture and the Spanish organic food producers’ association EPEA.

The country ranks as the fourth-largest European organic food producer, with 666,000 hectares of farming land used for organic farming, generating organic food worth €173.9m (US$205.1m) annually, reported the Spanish News Digest.

Organic olive oil accounts for 40% of Spain’s organic food production, while fruit accounts for just 3.0%.

The main area in Spain for organic farming is Andalucia, in the south of the country, where 225,600 hectares are devoted to organic farming.
