Swedish supermarket chain ICA has opened an office in China to provide more support for its purchasing initiatives.
With three offices planned in total, the first opened in Hong Kong yesterday (2 April). ICA is understood to be opening a second in Shanghai, with the third yet to be confirmed.
“We are very pleased to open an office in Asia,” said Kenneth Bengtsson, president and CEO. “Not only does it make purchasing easier, it will ensure the quality of our products. It will be easier for us to make sure that suppliers are meeting our requirements for social and workplace responsibility, among other things.”
Through the new offices, the company will monitor purchasing, order follow-ups and product quality, as well as to plan and track product shipments.
