Swiss multinational Nestlé has signed a £1.6m deal with online learning specialist NETg to deliver IT and human resources training to more than 200,000 employees around the world. Online education will be complemented by classroom training and will include induction into desktop SAP, Nestlé’s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solution.

Nestlé’s corporate intranet will be used to deliver the training programmes to employees to approximately 40% of the group’s employees. Corporate communications head François Xavier stressed, however, that this method had not been chosen on cost grounds, but because it was felt the approach was more effective. Companies are increasingly choosing online learning as it offers a high level of flexibility regarding time and geography.
