Swiss-based packaging manufacturer Tetra Pak has said it has developed a new Carton Shot Collection of Tetra Top carton packages for daily-dose functional drinks.

The company said these single-dose ‘shot’ packages are already worth 10 billion packs a year in Asia and are becoming an increasingly important segment of the functional foods market in Europe.

Tetra Pak said its new cartons come with a convenient screw cap and a product safety membrane seal inside the cap.

Finnish dairy company Valio is already using the Tetra Top Micro 100 ml package from the Carton Shot Collection for some of its functional food products.

Sverre Falck, Tetra Pak Finland’s key account manager for Valio, said one of the main benefits of the cartons compared to plastic bottles is that more than 50% of the package is made of renewable material. Another benefit is the potential for marketing on the package; with a carton package you tend to get a larger printing surface where customers can position their brands.
