Thai authorities and the European Union have formed an action plan designed to increase organic exports from Thailand to Europe.

According to a report in The Nation, funding of THB7.78m (US$192,441) will be provided by the Asia Trust Fund, an EU-supported fund that provides trade-related assistance to developing countries in Asia. Assistance will be given to exporters to meet EU food safety requirements and organic certification requirements.

The delegation said that Thai organic produce was in high demand in Europe, a market where the organic sector is valued at US$23m and is growing by 145% each year.
