Co-op Islami, the leading producer of halal meat products in the UAE and Gulf, has chosen the UK to be the launch pad for its planned expansion into Europe.
The company will launch its products in the UK mid-September and hopes to reach many of the UK’s 3.5 million-strong Muslim community, aiming for a 5% market share of the meat product sector.
Co-Op Islami hopes to expand further into Europe before long, and has plans to set up a production facility in London. Initially, the company will sell frozen chickens and chicken pieces, some of which be shipped directly from its Brazilian supplier.
The company has also entered an agreement with a leading British company that specialises in marketing halal products, reports Gulf News.
