UK food manufacturer 2 Sisters Food Group has created new executive positions within its domestic business and further afield in India.

In the UK, 2 Sisters has set up a new division for its cake business, while in India it has created a managing director role to head its operations in the market.

The UK cakes division, which will incorporate all of the company’s chilled desserts, cakes and puddings operations, will allow it to give the category “more of a focus”, a spokesperson for 2 Sisters told just-food today (29 May).

The unit will be headed by Veepul Patel, who will be divisional director of cakes, following his leadership of the recently acquired RF Brookes Avana cake and chilled desserts business from Premier Foods plc.

“We bought the Brookes Avana business in December last year, which was predominantly a chilled business, including cakes and puddings, so it’s a fairly new category for us. It’s really about giving us more of a focus on those categories,” the spokesperson said.

The company also named Olivier Goudineau as managing director for its business in India. Goudineau joins the company from Algerian food producer Cevital Group. Prior to that he spent 19 years with Nestle working in a number of markets including Italy, Poland, the Middle East and China.

2 Sisters has worked with Indian retailer Reliance Retail and the spokesperson said the UK group could look to expand its interests in the country.

“In India we’ve got a very loose relationship with Reliance as they have a number of outlets there, and obviously this is something which in future years we can potentially build on, but we can’t say much on this at the moment,” he added.

In addition, 2 Sisters announced the appointment of Andy Stapley into the newly-created role of divisional director, UK Poultry. Stapley was previously managing director of poultry for 2 Sisters.
