UK organic food producer Alara Wholefoods has partnered with fair trade organisation Traidcraft to introduce a range of fair trade mueslis.
The ‘GeoMuesli’ range includes three flavours; Mixed Berry, Fruit & Nut, and Exotic Fruit and is an extension of Traidcraft’s Fairtrade Geobar range launched ten years ago.
The muesli will be launched at the Anuga trade show in Cologne, Germany on 10-14 October and will then be available for listings.
The range is made from global mixes of fair trade ingredients sourced from seven countries including Chile, South Africa, Pakistan and Brazil, the company said today (2 October).
Armelle Sapelier, a spokesperson for Alara told just-food that the company has been working with Tradecraft since the 1980s.

By GlobalData“We have been working with Tradecraft for some time and we got our fair trade certification in 2002,” she said. “We are very interested in organic products but fair trade is very important for our managing director [Alex Smith] as well. He believes in the two ideas.
“Organics has respect for the environment and is better for the human body, while fair trade is pretty similar but it is also important in terms of ethical values. He [Smith] believes it is important to have fair trade processes in this world.”
Sapelier said the company may possibly launch further products under the fair trade banner, but would wait and see how the GeoMuesli range is welcomed first.
