Finalising his turkey firm coup, the eponymous Bernard Matthews, revealed that his company is to be delisted by the close of business on 12 January.

The company went public in 1971, and this acquisition, worth £232m, closes the book after a tense chapter involving a close bid for the turkey firm from US consumer products giant Sara Lee. Matthews’ own bid values the company at six times earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, and his 185p a share offer has been declared unconditional.
