Christian Aid will launch Chocolate Heaven Week this Saturday [28th July], in a bid to raise awareness of fair-trade chocolate.

The event will also tie in with the launch of the charity’s free Internet service provider, fish.co.uk.

Chocolate is one of the most successful fair-trade products available and helps consumers in the developed world to build sustainable trading relationships with producers in developing countries. Cocoa producers are guaranteed a fair price, employment with minimum health and safety requirements and the economic security of a long-term supply contract.

Fair trade chocolate is also mostly organic, with a high cocoa content, prompting Christian Aid to point out “it is the healthier option” for consumers and the environment.

As part of Chocolate Heaven Week, celebrities such as chef Ross Burden will be posting their chocolate thoughts and recipes on the site.
