UK pork supplier Cranswick has revealed that its first-quarter sales rose 11% from last year.

The company posted sales for the three months to 30 June of GBP167m (US$269m).

“Significant increases in sales were seen in sausages and bacon and growth was also seen in continental and charcuterie products, fresh pork and cooked meats,” the company said in a statement.

The company’s pre-prepared sandwich sales lagged behind overall sales, continuing the trend seen in the second half of last year. However, the company added that it expects sandwich sales to pick up in the second half of the current fiscal.

Cranswick added that it is looking to offset rising raw materials prices by driving efficiency gains and through talks on pricing with its customers.
