Dawn Farm Foods has extended its recall to include cooked bacon as a “precortionary measure”, following an outbreak of salmonella that has swept the UK and Ireland.

The Kerry Group used the cooked bacon in the manufacture of three own-brand sandwich fillers. These products have been distributed in Northern Ireland.

The products being withdrawn by Dawn Farm Foods are: Dunnes Chicken and Bacon Sandwich Filler, O’Brien’s Chicken and Bacon Sandwich Filler and Supervalu Chicken and Bacon Sandwich Filler.

Previously Dawn Farm Foods recalled Philly Style Steak and Chicken Fajita sandwiches, which had been distributed to Subway restaurants, and selected lines of cooked beef, cooked chicken and cooked bacon products.

The company was unavailable for comment as just-food went to press.
