UK meat group Hilton Food Group has struck a deal to supply Danish retailer Coop Danmark.

The London-listed meat supplier will add Coop Danmark to its customer base, which includes Tesco and Ahold, from 2011.

The deal will see Hilton supply Coop Danmark’s 1,200 stores from a newly-built distribution centre in Aarhus. The business is expected to create around 220 jobs.

The site and the first two years of production from the facility will cost Hilton GBP22m (US$36.1m).

Hilton CEO Robert Watson said: “Our ability to enter a new territory with a new customer demonstrates the flexibility and versatility of the Hilton business model. We continue to look at further opportunities for geographic expansion.”
