Fairtrade chocolate manufacturer Divine is planning to enter the bakery sector with a range of new products currently being piloted.

“Divine has been working alongside a team of highly experienced bakery specialists who have set up the company Innov8ive Foods exclusively to produce a range of high quality baked fairtrade chocolate products licensed under the Divine brand name,”  Charlotte Borger Divine communications director told just-food today (4 April). Aimed at the premium market, the first three products under development are a muffin, a brownie and a chocolate chip cookie. Other products are in the pipeline, the company added.

“Working with Divine, Innov8ive Foods has developed a range of premium quality products aimed at the ambient sector – made with a high Divine chocolate and cocoa content, and uniquely, using 70% dark chocolate. This means that not only are the products particularly chocolatey and good – but that more cocoa can be bought from Kuapa Kokoo at the Fairtrade price to make them,” Borger concluded.

The company said that it hopes the baked goods, which all contain high levels of Divine cocoa, will be available to foodservice, wholesale and retail customers.
