The UK’s Food Standards Agency has granted conditional approval for Farmbox Meats to restart operations following suspension during the horse meat investigations.

In February, the agency suspended the Aberystwyth operations of Farmbox as part of its ongoing investigation into the mislabelling of meat products. The FSA claimed Peter Boddy Licensed Slaughterhouse supplied horse carcasses to Farmbox.

In an announcement this week, however, the agency said it had lifted the suspension, allowing it to operate under “conditional approval”, which will expire on 5 April. A decision is then expected to be taken as to whether the plant should be granted full approval to operate.
