The EU commission is currently holding discussions with government representatives as a first step towards lifting the current ban on approvals for new GM crop strains. Over the next few years, the general attitude towards GM crops is expected to improve in many EU countries, such as the UK, but in some countries, such as the Netherlands, it will get worse. However, the Dutch attitude has been more favorable than the European average, while the UK is lower. Soon there will be very little difference between EU countries.
