Britain’s largest selling chocolate bar, KitKat, is set to “have a break” from its past, as manufacturers Nestlé Rowntree have unveiled plans to relaunch the bar in a new wrapper in a £3m (US$4.1m) makeover.

Encased in silver foil and paper, the four finger wafer and chocolate bar has been a favourite in Britain since it first arrived on the market in 1935, and now notches up yearly sales of around £245m. From next month, the company revealed that KitKat will be available in a “flow-wrap plastic foil” similar to that of other chocolate countlines.
