Northern supermarket chain Morrison’s is preparing to take early advantage of new EU laws on car sales, by establishing a joint venture with car dealership Lookers that will allow its customers to buy  a new motor along with their baked beans.

The new rules, due later this year, will overturn the hold of car manufacturers over where their vehicles are sold.

Lookers revealed yesterday [Monday] that the joint venture will see it establish an Internet-linked booth in three Morrison’s stores. Through these concessions, shoppers will be able to browse for new cars and the latest deals under the guidance of the car dealer’s staff.
