UK food and clothing retailer Marks & Spencer has said its total second-quarter sales rose 2.6% compared to the year-ago period, a rise of 0.6% on a like-for-like basis.
The company said its food sales rose 5.4% over the year-ago period, or 1.6% on a like-for-like basis, for the second quarter to 27 September. The company said the quarterly food performance benefited from a strong contribution from new space.
“Food performance remains strong, with the Simply Food format being well received by our customers,” said chief executive Roger Holmes.
