UK salads specialist Natures Way Foods (NWF) is to create around 400 jobs with the construction of a GBP14m (US$22.7m) packhouse.

The facility, in West Sussex, Runcton, which is due to open at the end of the year, will create around 110 permanent jobs and 270 flexible operative roles, the fresh food producer said today (2 February). The investment will include machinery, start-up costs, staff training and recruitment, as well as building costs.

The 2.4 hectare plot will be built adjacent to an existing Natures Way Foods site, and will include a state-of-the-art refrigerated warehouse and salad pack house, with offices and parking.

CEO Susan Barratt said: “NWF is a very successful world class business that has outgrown its existing facilities. We are expanding fast and this new facility is needed to help us fulfil our obligations to our customers, and to ensure continued and sustainable market growth. Not only will it allow us to become more efficient, but it will enable us to bring further employment to the area.”
