UK pork pie and pasty maker Samworth Brothers has booked rising full-year profits on the back of increased contracts with customers.

The family-owned company, which owns the Ginsters cornish pasty brand, generated net profit of GBP31.6m (US$50.4m) for the year to 2 January, up from GBP27.5m a year earlier.

Samworth’s operating profit reached GBP47.9m, against GBP40.6m in the previous 12 months, accounts filed at Companies House show. The higher earnings came as turnover rose from GBP597.2m to GBP668.8m.

“The business continued to achieve strong sales growth, gaining additional business with its key customers,” Samworth said.
