UK dairy company Robert Wiseman has confirmed that it is at a preliminary stage of negotiations with First Milk regarding the acquisition of a 15% stake in Wiseman by First Milk.

Wiseman’s confirmation followed weekend press speculation that the company was in talks with First Milk, a farmers’ cooperative that supplies Wiseman with a significant proportion of its raw milk requirements.

“We believe that this deal would strengthen the relationship that exists between the two organisations. There will be no change in the management of the company with the respective roles of myself and Robert remaining the same,” said chairman Alan Wiseman.

The company said a further announcement would be made as appropriate.
