UK milk producer Robert Wiseman Dairies has reported a 24% increase in first-half pre-tax profit to £11.1m (US$17.5m) from £9m in the same period last year.

The diary company, which is Scotland’s biggest milk processor, also said it was on track to sell over one billion litres of milk during this financial year.

The company said it was starting to see the benefits of its £40m investment in a new hi-tech dairy in Droitwich Spa, central England. The dairy processed 120m litres of milk in the first half, up from 40m litres in the first half of last year. It has an annual capacity of 350m litres, reported Reuters.
