Grocery retailer Somerfield, which rejected a takeover approach from Iceland’s Baugur last month, said today (Thursday) that it had been approached by other potential buyers.

“The board of Somerfield announces that it has recently received further
proposals regarding possible cash offers for the Company,” it said. “The board will investigate these proposals and make a further announcement in due course.”

“This announcement has not been made with the consent of the prospective offerors,” it said. “There can be no certainty that an offer will be made or as to the
terms on which any offer would be made.
