Supermarket giant Tesco launched a new scheme in Cardiff yesterday in a bid to save customers’ pets from having to wait in hot cars or being tied up in the sun while their owners shop.

In conjunction with Bakers Complete pet foods firm, Tesco has opened up “what [they] believe is the first-ever crèche for dogs.” Its massive Cardiff store has recruited a trained dog handler to feed and water the animals while their owners are shopping.

The crèche will remain open for a week long trial to assess how useful and effective it is during the summer months.
