UK-based confectioner Cadbury Schweppes has confirmed that, following shareholder and regulatory approvals, it has completed its acquisition of Adams from Pfizer for US$4.2bn.

Cadbury said that Cadbury Schweppes and Adams’ confectionery businesses in the Americas will be integrated into a new unit, Americas Confectionery. Elsewhere, Adams operations will be integrated into Cadbury Schweppes’ Europe, Middle East & Africa and Asia Pacific regions.

With the acquisition, Cadbury gains Adams’ four main brands – Halls medicated confectionery, Trident sugarfree gum, the Bubbas bubblegum range and Dentyne Ice chewing gum – which together account for over 70% of Adams’ sales.
