UK hot dog maker Westler Foods has been rescued from administration and purchased by a newly-formed UK firm backed by private-equity firm RCapital.
Westler Foods called in the administrators in December after being unable to fund its pension scheme.
The business employs around 200 people at its Yorkshire site in the production of canned and pouched food products for brands including Westlers, Multi Menu, Tyne, BigMex, Chesswood, Wayfayrer, Military Rations and Compleat.
However, administrators KPMG confirmed to just-food today (7 January) that a buyer had been found for the troubled firm.
“We can confirm that the company has been bought by With Comb. A number of the former company’s directors will be part of the new management team. The purchase is being backed by RCapital and took place on 29 December,” the spokesperson said.
“All employees have transferred. When we took over as administrators we made nine redundancies but 162 jobs now remain.”
