Taiwanese food giant Uni-President has booked a mixed third quarter – with operating profit up but sales and net profit both in decline.

In a regulatory filing, the company revealed revenue in the three months to 30 September slipped to TWD112.8bn (US$3.6bn), down from TWD114.3bn last year.

Uni-President revealed that a lower R&D spend contributed to improved operating profit during the period. Operating profit rose to TWD30.9bn from TWD30.4bn in the third quarter of 2013. However, a reduced income from joint ventures helped push down net profit, which sank to TWD3.5bn from TWD6.5bn.
