United Petfood has struck another private-label European deal with the acquisition of Teeling Petfood.

Based in the city of Gent in Belgium, United Petfood snapped up Cambrian Pet Foods earlier this year, a UK own-label business, a position now strengthened with the purchase of Teeling in the Netherlands.

Teeling has been producing wet foods for dogs and cats since 1989 with manufacturing facilities in Hoogeveen and Heerhugowaard. The company employs around 100 people.

“The acquisition strengthens the position of United Petfood as a full-service private-label pet-food producer and gives customers access to a complete range of in-house made products,” the Belgium firm said in a statement without disclosing the purchase price.

United Petfood supplies wet and dry pet foods, biscuits and snacks. With the two Teeling production plants under its wings, the company now operates 19 facilities in Belgium, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Poland and Romania.
