Barry Callebaut is planning to transfer its liquid cocoa production from its Swedesboro, New Jersey-based factory to its Eddystone, Pennsylvania facility.
A spokesperson for the chocolate maker told just-food that the Eddystone facility is more modern and better suits the company’s production needs.
Staff at the Swedesboro facility were informed of the decision in February. Approximately 25% of staff will be re-hired at Eddystone.
Barry Callebaut said in a statement that it will double the plant’s 25,000 tonne annual production capacity within two to three years.
