PepsiCo has appointed Bunge chief executive Alberto Weisser to its board of directors.
Weisser, who is chairman and CEO of global food, commodity and agribusiness firm Bunge, will join PepsiCo’s board on 14 September, the company said yesterday (20 July).
Weisser served as Bunge’s CFO for six years before moving up to lead the company in 1999. He is also a member of The Council on Foreign Relations.
“Alberto brings to the PepsiCo board a deep understanding of the opportunities and issues inherent in the global food business,” said PepsiCo chairman and CEO Indra Nooyi. “Alberto understands commodity markets extremely well; which is a key skill in helping us continue to achieve sustained growth.”
The election of Weisser will bring the total number of directors to 13, and the number of independent outside directors to 12. Nooyi is PepsiCo’s sole inside director.
