US club giant Costco posted a 13% rise in sales for the fiscal year as shoppers continued to flock to the ‘bargain’ store.
Net sales for the 52 weeks ended 31 August increased to US$70.9bn from $63.09bn during the prior fiscal year ended 2 September 2007.
Comparable warehouse sales increased 8% over the corresponding 52-week period of the prior year.
Operating income rose to $1.9bn from $1.6bn, while pre-tax profit climbed to $1.9bn from $1.7bn for the same period last year.
Total revenue was up to $72.4bn from $64.4 for fiscal 2007.
