Danone’s US arm has opened a new research and development facility to accelerate the company’s growth across the Atlantic.

The US$9m centre, based in White Plains, New York, has been built to increase collaboration between R&D, marketing and other departments.

Gustavo Valle, president and CEO of Dannon, Danone’s US unit, said: “The Dannon Discovery & Innovation Center is an unprecedented investment in people and technology designed to accelerate the growth of our business and that of our customers, the nation’s leading retailers.”

Dannon has also provided its suppliers with designated office space within the company’s headquarters in an effort to improve collaboration.

“By physically bringing the R&D team closer to other core business functions, we will foster greater collaboration to accelerate pursuit of our mission – to bring health through food to as many people as possible,” Albe Wendt, Danone’s vice president research and development in North America, added.
