US-based Diamond Foods announced today (2 November) that it is investing US$38m in expanding a Kettle Chips facility to meet increased demand.

Production capacity at its Beloit, Wisconsin plant will be doubled and more than 100 jobs will be created.

Diamond Foods said the expansion will allow broader distribution of its products throughout larger markets in the East, South and Midwest.

The project is a public-private sector partnership between Diamond Foods, the state of Wisconsin and the City of Beliot.

The facility is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2011 and be completed in the first quarter of 2012.
