US confectionery giant Hershey has hired former Dole Packaged Foods executive Javier Idrovo to lead the company’s “strategic planning”.
Idrovo will take up his role as senior vice president, strategy and business development on 3 November.
Hershey said Idrovo would look to provide a “strategic approach” to the company’s mergers and acquisitions activities. He will also identify the segments and overseas markets that are “crucial” to Hershey’s global growth, the company said.
“Over the past year, we have developed and launched a very strong strategic plan,” Hershey president and CEO David West said. “Javier’s extensive background both in leading a global consumer business and as a management consultant will be of immense value as we implement our plan across the organisation.”
Idrovo was formerly president of Dole Packaged Foods and had previously held the CFO role. From 2001 to 2005, Idrovo served as senior vice president, strategy, for Dole Food Co.
