Amy’s Kitchen, the US frozen-food, organic and free-from business, has hired former Mars executive Xavier Unkovic as its global president.
The company, set up in 1988, is still owned by the founding Berliner family. Unkovic will report into husband-and-wife owners Andy and Rachel Berliner.

Announcing the appointment of Unkovic, Andy, the CEO of Amy’s Kitchen, said: “As a company, Amy’s believes in taking the time to do things the right way, and investing in a long-term vision. His leadership will help drive our innovation and support our customers’ goals to satisfy the growing market for high quality organic food.”
Unkovic joined Mars when the company acquired France-based pet-food business Royal Canin in 2001. He had started working for Royal Canin in 1992 and stayed with the business under Mars’ ownership until 2009, moving to a US-based role within the food giant’s drinks division. Unkovic’s most recent position at Mars was as global president for the drinks arm, a job he held from July 2013 to April 2017.
The Amy’s Kitchen range of products includes frozen entrees, pizzas, and burritos, as well as canned food, pasta sauces and confectionery. The California-based company, which has three plants, is setting up a fourth in Goshen in New York State.
