Flowers Foods has completed the acquisition of ButterKrust Bakery in Lakeland, Florida.


The deal, which was announced in June, will see Flowers purchase all issued and outstanding stock of the holding company of ButterKrust in a cash transaction.


ButterKrust operates one bakery in Lakeland, Florida. The company sells the Country Hearth, Rich Harvest and Sunbeam brands and produces own-label baked goods for retailers throughout the state. Annual sales total around US$70m.


Flowers Foods recently posted first-quarter sales of US$676.7m, up 10.9% from the previous year.


Flowers Foods produces and markets packaged bakery foods for retail and foodservice customers. Among the company’s brands are Nature’s Own, Cobblestone Mill, Sunbeam, Blue Bird, and Mrs Freshley’s.
