PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay North America business unit has launched two Lightly Salted varieties of crisps for the US market.
Fritos Lightly Salted corn chips and Ruffles Lightly Salted potato chips join Lay’s Lightly Salted potato chips, containing around 50% less sodium per one ounce serving than their original counterparts, the firm said today (28 June).
“The number one request from consumers is for lower sodium versions of snacks,” said Ann Mukherjee, chief marketing officer, Frito-Lay North America. “Lightly Salted meets that consumer need. We will continue to build on this effort and look to deliver even more options for those consumers focused on sodium.”
Both products are available nationally in grocery, retail and mass merchandise across the US. Lay’s Lightly Salted and Ruffles Lightly Salted potato chips are priced at US$3.99 per 10oz and 10.5oz bags respectively.
