American researchers find soy yoghurt may help control Type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.

Soy yoghurt and some dairy yoghurt rich in fruit help regulate enzymes that affect blood sugar levels and narrowing of blood vessels, according to the report in the Journal of Food Biochemistry, which studied their affects on enzymes targeted by diabetes and hypertension drugs.

Lab tests of peach, blueberry, strawberry, plain and soy yoghurt showed the soy blueberry variety strongly affected all enzymes, and soy yoghurt was the most potent in antioxidants and phenols as well as inhibiting the enzyme causing vessels to narrow and raising blood pressure.
