US-based J & J Snack Foods has posted “record sales and earnings” for the third quarter of its financial year.

The manufacturer of the Superpretzel, Mrs Goodcookie, and Holly Ridge Bakery brands said that net income for the quarter to 25 June increased 47% to US$23.3m. Sales rose 9% to $206.3m.

Net income for the first nine months of the company’s fiscal year increased 22% to $39.1m on the back of a 6% increase in sales to $524.7m.

J & J president and CEO Gerald Shreiber said “all of our businesses contributed to the quarter’s success” but he highlighted the “particularly strong performance” from its Icee frozen beverage division.
