Kraft Foods is to expand a production facility in New York state with the creation of 50 full-time jobs.
The US food giant has secured two US$125,000 grants through a New York state development programme, officials announced on Wednesday (3 June).
Kraft will use the funding to install a ‘Lunchables’ lunch combinations production line at the Avon facility in Livingston County.
“We are excited to partner with the State of New York, Empire State Development, Division of Housing and Community Renewal, and the Village of Avon on this addition to our facility,” said Gregg Manning, plant manager for the Avon plant. “This will increase our production capability by one third, and create approximately 50 new jobs.”
Kraft’s Avon plant currently employs around 360 people and expects the new line to be operational by the end of this year.
Kraft manufactures two product lines in Avon: Cool Whip whipped topping and Lunchables lunch combinations. Lunchables produced in Avon are shipped for distribution throughout the eastern US.
