US snack maker Lance has expanded its sandwich cracker line to include additional varieties and a change in ingredients.

The 100-calorie sandwich cracker pouches are available with either “real peanut butter” or “real cheese”, the company said on Thursday (28 May). Lance has also replaced its wheat sandwich crackers with whole grain and removed high-fructose corn syrup from the products.

“Our new products and ingredient changes are just some of the little things we do so Lance sandwich crackers can be part of a wholesome lunch or snack for the entire family,” said Tom Ingram, brand director for Lance Snacks.

The 100-calorie pouches are available in the three varieties: ToastChee Peanut Butter, Toasty Peanut Butter and NipChee Cheddar Cheese.

As part of the switch from wheat to whole grain, Lance is replacing its Swiss on Wheat with Sharp Cheddar Cheese on Whole Grain. Other whole grain varieties include: Real Peanut Butter on Whole Grain and Real Cheddar Cheese on Whole Grain.

A box of six 100-calorie pouches of ToastChee Peanut Butter, Toasty Peanut Butter or NipChee Cheddar Cheese retail around US$2.99.

A homepack of eight single-serve, whole grain sandwich crackers retails around $2.99.
