Materne is investing over EUR60m in the construction of a second production plant in the US following strong growth of its GoGo Squeez fruit snacks, a source close to the company told just-food.

The plant will be in Nampa in Idaho and will enter service at the end of this year with two production lines.

In the long term, it will account for 60% of Materne’s GoGo Squeez output in the US. Up to 230 jobs could be created.

Materne, part of French food firm Groupe MOM, itself owned by private-equity firm LBO France, opened a plant in Traverse City, in Michigan, three years ago.

GoGo Squeez is the North American version of its Pom’Potes fruit compote pouch.

Materne generated turnover of EUR100m in the US last year matching that of Pom’Potes in France.
