US meat processor Monogram Food Solutions is to launch a range of meat snacks under turkey brand Butterball.

Monogram holds a licence to produce Butterball-brand products and said the line, which includes turkey bacon jerky and turkey snack sticks, will be rolled out this summer.

The company claimed the products would offer consumers a “better-for-you” option in a meat snacks category “dominated” by beef jerky.

The company said production at its plant in Chandler in Minnesota will start this month.

“Butterball is an iconic national brand with a tremendous heritage,” Wes Jackson, president of Monogram, said. “We are honoured to be working hand in hand with the folks at Butterball to bring premium turkey into the meat snack section with these healthy, great tasting products.”

Butterball is a venture between US conglomerate Seaboard Corp. and meat processor Maxwell Farms.
